The method of Vipassana, or insight meditation, follows the tradition of the late
Ajahn Tong Sirimangalo, one of Thailand’s greatest meditation masters. The center
in Prague is open 7 days a week for meditation. Schedule updates are posted on
Facebook. For bookings and questions contact the Tisarana center.
The 21 day retreat is based on the 16 stages of Vipassana and provides a valuable foundation for future retreats. It is suitable for beginners and experienced meditators and is available throughout the year. It is possible to finish the course in less than 21 days, especially for students who have Vipassana experience.
Students who have already done the basic course, can follow up with a 10 day retreat. The retreat is also based on the stages of Vipassana.
Students who have completed the basic course and at least one 10-day retreat at the center, can do a retreat at home and report to the teacher once a week.
Students can do a short course of 3-10 days. The course is a very good introduction to Vipassana and follows the same early stages of Vipassana as the foundation course.
There is usually a weekend or day course every month. The courses always teach Vipassana meditation, but some courses offer something additional such as loving-kindness (metta) meditation and/ or healing from complex post-traumatic stress.
There are meditation groups twice a week on Sunday 10-12 am and Tuesday 18- 20h. The group is an opportunity to listen to a talk about meditation and practice Vipassana meditation. New students will receive an introduction to Vipassana
meditation, experienced students will practice together. To sign up, WhatsApp, SMS, phone or email us in advance. On donation.
In Summer, a Sunday group meditation course is held at Žluté lázně once a month. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn insight (Vipassana) meditation. On donation. See facebook or Zlute Lazne.
Cost: the teaching and longer retreats are on donation. There might be additional
costs for some courses which are not donation-based;
see details of each course or
contact the center.
All Students are expected to follow the eight (or five) Buddhist guidelines during
their stay at the center.
