Dear Meditators

Thank you for supporting the meditation courses in August. They went very well. There were almost 100 participants at Žluté Lázně (on the picture).

The Tisarana center in Prague-Trója is open 7 days a week and it is possible to come to practice meditation any time. Contact Jonathan & Anna (+420722008067) or Václav (+420777576180) or send a message to info@tisarana.cz.

Every Thursday, there is a meditation group between 6pm and 8pm; you can come and join without prior notice.

We also organize or participate in special events; we would like to inform you about those from September to November.

September

  • 12 Lotus Center www.centrumlotus.cz Mindfulness: one day meditation course. Mindfulness is always available, everywhere but how can we get the benefits? The course is from 9 am to 4 pm.   • 18-03 Anna and Jonathan will fly to Wat Chom Tong, Thailand, for Achan Tong`s birthday. If anyone is interested in traveling together please contact us. The center will not be available for retreats but Vaclav will offer instructions (by appointment) for new students and group meditation on Thursday at 6:00 pm,

  • 10 Introduction course at Tisarana Center The course is aimed at new students. Time: 9am to 12am. Please confirm if you are interested. The course is advertised at the naucmese.cz website.

November

  • 21 Zen Garden Course. We have been invited by Klara, Yin Yoga teacher, to offer a Vipassana course at the center. Time: 10am to 1pm. Please confirm if you are interested. The course is advertised at the zen-garden.cz website.

August

  • 15. Lotus Center www.centrumlotus.cz Basic Vipassana: meditation course. This one day course is an opportunity for beginners and older meditators to lea and practice Vipassana together. The course is from 9am to 4pm. Donations go to the Lotus Center. Please come and practice or bring a friend and support Lotus.   • 22. Tisarana Center tisarana.cz: Introduction course. We are planning to hold introduction courses every Saturday for new students. 9am to 12am. Please confirm arrival.
  • 30. Žluté lázně / Yellow Spa www.zlutelazne.cz (Praha 4 – Podolí): Vipassana moing course with teachers from Thailand. Thanat Chindapo, director of Inteational meditation at Wat Chom Tong, Thailand, and his wife Kathryn Chindapo will be in Prague from 29 Aug to 02 September. They will be teaching with Jonathan and Anna at Žluté lázně from 9am to 12am. For more information contact Tisarana.

Dear Meditators,our meditation center in Prague will be open from the 3rd June until the end of the year; most of that time, Jonathan and Anna will be teaching there. Special thanks to Libor and Václav, who have sponsored the apartments in Trója and the teachers airfare.Upcoming events and news:

Opening ceremony at 6:00 pm on Sunday 07 June

Everyone is invited to the re-opening of the meditation center. Jonathan & Anna will host a short opening ceremony that will include an introduction, paying respect to the three refuges, a talk and a discussion about the future. Please confirm if you would like to come by sending a short e-mail. It is nevertheless possible to come starting from the 3rd for practicing.

Name of meditation center

In January, Achan Tong gave the meditation center an official Pali name: Tīsaranā Vipassanānuso. The name means “dedicated to Vipassanā through the three refuges (Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha)”. Our website was moved to tisarana.cz.

Legal form

The center now has a proper non-profit form, and we have a new bank account for sending donations (CZK or €). Details are under “contact” on the website.

Visit to Thailand

We are planning a trip to visit the main temple, Wat Chom Tong, in Thailand from about 18 September to 02 October. This is a wonderful opportunity for all meditators to see Thailand and the temple and celebrate the birthday´s of Achan Tong on 21 September and Thanat Chindapo on 01 October and maybe do a short meditation retreat.Please forward this e-mail to anyone who might be interested.Yours truly,organizers & teachers.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Some news about upcoming events.

1. Closing ceremony with Jonathan & Anna on Sunday 14th December
Jonathan & Anna will be leaving on December 16. We would like to say good-bye in a short ceremony, which will include a talk, paying respect to the triple jewel and a discussion about meditation in 2015.

2. Center is open till January 4!
The center will stay open throughout the Christmas and New Year time, until January 4, 2015: Asher Gal, a teacher from the very same tradition as Jonathan & Anna (Achan Tong), will arrive to teach on December 17. This is a good opportunity for those who could not come before because of their duties.

3. JuneSeptember 2015
We have invited Jonathan & Anna to come back to teach from June to September 2015. They are looking forward to a warm Summer in Prague.

4. Thursday meditation group
The group is up and running from 6 pm to 8 pm every Thursday. The group starts with a short meditation, followed by a talk and finishes with a longer meditation. Everybody is welcome. Beginners will receive instructions about how to start Vipassana.

Dear friends of meditation,rnrnthe organisers and teachers of the meditation center in Trója would like use this first Vipassana Sangha newsletter to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the temporary Vipassana meditation center by practicing meditation, giving donations, sending good wishes, visiting and sharing information.rnrnThe Pali word Sangha most commonly refers to the monastic community of ordained Buddhist monks or nuns but it also includes ordinary people who follow the teachings: do no harm, do good, clean the mind. Thus the Prague Sangha refers to anyone (irrespective of their religion) who voluntarily work together in an “association”, “company” or “community” to support and practice Vipassana meditation in Prague.rnrnThe newsletter has main two purposes:rn

  1. Weekly meditation group, Thursday at 6pm. A group, mostly participants from the previous year, would like to start meditating every Thursday evening at the center. The first meeting is this Thursday (13 November) starting at 6 pm (late comers are welcome) until 8:00 pm. There will an introduction to Vipassana meditation and detailed instruction how to start, a talk and then some practice. Everyone is welcome and no need to book ahead.
